Mickey Moody and Cottonwood Baptist Church
It's a blessing to see what my cousin, Mickey Moody, along with members and volunteers are doing with Cottonwood Baptist Church near Caurthersville, Mo. They are in the process of completing a new building at the site of the original building, where my grandparents, Russell and Laura Yarbrough, were members in the 1930s. My grandmother, Laura, served as WMU director and church clerk. Cottonwood is a stone's throw from the Mississippi River and a ferry crossing. My grandparents would have been very proud to know that Mickey is now the pastor of the church!

Some new family information to share
Note: My son, Caleb Yarbrough, has been working on some family history and is being assisted by Rae Hopper, a relative of my mother, June Wingfield Yarbrough. Rae has a subscription to the ancestry.com website, which includes a wealth of family information. I thought the rest of the family would like to see this information. - Tim Yarbrough

Caleb,
Russell Albert Yarbrough/Yarbro was born in Decaturville, Tn. which is in Decatur County. He married Laura Kilmer in 1912 in Clark County, Arkansas. She was the daughter of James Robert and Rosetta T. Parker Kilmer. The Kilmers lived in Dallas County, Arkansas and had 15 children. I found Rosetta buried in the Round Hill cemetery which is located in Dallas County, Arkansas.
Russell and Laura's first child Mildred was born in Tennessee and I think she was born in Nashville since I found them in the Nashville directory in 1914. I know they were in Fisher County, Tx. in 1917 because of his WWI draft registration. Their daughter Pauline was born in Texas. They were back in Arkansas by 1921 because Clyde and Louise were born there. They had moved to Pemiscot County by 1928 since your grandfather Roy was born in Missouri. I think they moved to Pemiscot County because Russell's mother was living there. Russell's father Henry died in 1908 and Emily Caroline "Carrie" Yarbro had married a Wallace Dixon and they were in Pemiscot County in the 1920 census.
I found that all the records in Decatur County, Tennessee had Yarbro instead of Yarbrough. I didn't find Russell using Yarbrough until he went to Arkansas.
These are the Yarbrough/Yarbros that are your ancestors--William b.1796 N.C.---John Thomas b.1840 Tn.---Henry Michael b.1862 Tn.--Russell Albert b.1895--Roy Yarbrough--Tim Yarbrough--you.
I found John Thomas Yarbro was a private in Co.B 10th Regt Calvery in the CSA. This was on his tombstone. You may want to see what you can find out about his unit.I have some more information that I'll send to you later.

Jerry Bullard's father to celebrate 100 years Oct. 26
Our family's most important news is Jerry's dad is going to be 100 years old October 26th. There will be a birthday celebration for him at his favorite restaurant in Memphis; I will go up with Jerry for that, haven't been in that direction since our family reunion. Lane will be making a literal "flying trip from L.A.", coming in on Tuesday for the birthday on Wednesday, leaving for L.A. on Thursday going back and we'll be headed back to Gulf Shores.
Only other news is after no rain at all all summer long, we've had over 18 inches so far and it is still raining today. Lots of water all in one short time and we needed it. Wish some of it could have been dumped on Texas!

It's time for the Yarbrough Family Reunion!
This is from Barbara Yarbrough Bullard:A few of us have been talking about areunion in 2012. I believe all who came with their families last year enjoyed seeing everyone and visiting on a happy occasion. So, let's get it going please.
Last year's reunion date in 2010 was June 18th at Quality Inn, Heber Springs. It is pretty well located for most of the family. June 15th, 2012 is in the middle of June and is on a Friday. Some folks said they needed more notice, so if we can hear from you, we can get a date booked. Last year's date was booked in early November; it is a popular place in the summer and if we wait until after the lst of the year, we'll be looking for another place. The Inn had a wonderful space for the reunion and places aren't easy to find that are convenient for most of the travelers.
I still have the information for the caterer used last year and I will be glad to take care of that if it is okay with everyone; or, if someone has a better suggestion and wants to go with it, let it be known, okay?? Will be glad to help if someone else wants to do it.
Some of us are getting older and some have health problems and if we want to spend some time together before another 14 years go by, we need to start on our plans now.
Also, Tim and Dennis Yarbrough said they would help if someone will step in and lend him a hand, please let them know if you can help.
If anyone has input , let's hear it. Here's hoping we have another great get-together in 2012.
